3 big likes!

Well, history has been made today, folks.  My husband WOKE up 2 of the kids from their nap time because he was excited to take them in his brand new bike trailer for a ride!  I don’t know if I’ve seen Dave this excited about something before, but after church and lunch today, he rushed out to Canadian tire to pick up a bike trailer that had gone on a great sale.  He’s wanted one of these for a few years now, but we finally made the plunge today.  Here it is all assembled, and Dave takes it for a spin around the block before adding the kids in!

Dave gave up his 2 hours of freedom to pick up the trailer, assemble it, and THEN wake up the kids to take them for a ride.  Jesse is psyched, and although Janna was half asleep, she was excited in her own groggy way.  Perhaps it was the big purple and pink helmet she got for the event?

So, here I sit in a quiet house as the baby sleeps, feeling very spoiled.  We thought this purchase would be a great investment for years to come.  Dave really wants to keep biking this summer to stay in shape, and so we thought it would be a nice thing to work into our routine.  Dave gets exercise without having to do it during the hours when the kids are sleeping.  The older kids are entertained, mommy gets a little break, Robyn gets some one on one time with me.  It’s so good all around.  So now, I sit here and wait to see if they like it.  I think the reaction will be positive :)

Speaking of likes, we hit up a pool party yesterday with our small group peeps, and Robyn LOVED the water!  She was really trying to swim and pumping her legs and SO thrilled the entire time.  It was a slightly chilly first dunk in.  I wish I had her reaction on camera.  She looked totally alarmed and annoyed- but took a deep breath and did her best not to cry.  As soon as we did a little twirl with her, she was as good as gold.   It seems like just this past week, she has really been taking on lots of new things.  She can sit up decently, and loves to ROLL all over the place.  I don't think she'll be as fast to crawl and walk as Janna, but not as slow as Jesse.  Dave thinks she'll be an early walker.  He guessed 11 months, and I guessed 13.  We'll see

The final “like” I will mention is that Janna and Robyn are sharing some clothing these days!  Can you believe it?  I always pick out clothes for the girls on the weekend, but Dave will actually dress them.  Well, lately he’s been mixing up what I have put out for each of them, and so we just go with it!  Yesterday, Janna was sporting a pair of 3-6 shorts and a 3-6 month top intended for Robyn.  When I laughed at her(and Dave) and mentioned that was supposed to be Robyn’s outfit.  Janna recoiled and glared at me something fierce.  She bunched up the shirt from on her chest, and said appallingly, “MINE! Mine shirt! Mine clothes!”   Oh 2 year olds.

Well, I should go and enjoy this peace and quiet with a cup of tea and perhaps some chocolate. I just wanted to touch base as I am going to be doing a big blogging push over the next couple of weeks so I get my fill before Dave takes over the second week of July. Thanks for reading. I’m out!
